Five days of the best steeplechase and hurdle racing on the planet bring the season to a climax as 450 horses compete for £2.8m in prize money at the Cheltenham Festival.
The four major Championship races are backed up by another six Grade 1 contests and a whole host of Handicaps that set racegoers the challenge of picking a winner that can bring high return. Over £1m will be bet on-course at the Cheltenham Festival on every race.
For the three hours before racing and the hour and half after, there is time to enjoy The Cheltenham Festival atmosphere amongst the trade stands, parades, music and entertainment.
Crowd levels at the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be around 55,000 compared with capacity of 65,000 expected on Friday for the Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Over the course of the week, the Cheltenham Festival can expect to welcome over 200,000 racegoers from all over the world and it is thought that more than £500 million will be gambled over the four days.
